What is a good net worth for my age?

A common rule of thumb (from The Millionaire Next Door) is age × pre-tax income ÷ 10. The Federal Reserve SCF 2022 median US household net worth was about $193,000, much lower for under-35s.

Should I include my home?

Yes, at a realistic sale value, with the mortgage as a liability. Many people also track net worth excluding home equity, because you cannot spend it without selling.

How often should I calculate net worth?

Monthly or quarterly is enough. The trend matters more than any single number.
